Call for Artists
BC Children’s Hospital Foundation Children’s Healing Experience Project

BC Children’s Hospital Foundation is seeking applications from qualified Canadian artists to be considered for future commission or purchase of artwork for the Teck Acute Care Centre at British Columbia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Applications will be accepted starting on March 23, 2016. Completed applications must be submitted on or before May 06, 2016, 5:00pm Pacific Daylight Time.

The Project
The Teck Acute Care tower is currently being designed and built as the new state-of-the-art core of the Children’s Hospital. The BC Children’s Hospital Foundation is undertaking this Call for Artists to enhance the new building with experienced-based art installations. This effort is known as the Children’s Healing Experience Project.

This Children’s Healing Experience Project seeks to enrich the Teck Acute Care Centre with arts installations that facilitate healthy outcomes by comforting and engaging children, youth and their families, as well as BC Children's Hospital staff.

From theming an MRI room with murals that make an MRI exam less scary, to adding patient-controlled coloured LED lights to a recovery space, this project aims to engage young patients and provide a better healing experience for them.

The Children’s Healing Experience Project is governed by a committee with representation from the hospital itself, the health authority, the builder, patient families and senior level volunteers.

The links below provide downloadable documents that spell out in detail the procedure required to participate in the project as well as the site specific requirements of the different locations.
